Great Promise for American Indians was founded in 1991 after Austin Native American members returned from the White House Conference on Native Americans. The group incorporated in 1992 as a 501(c)(3). It later continued as the Native American Cultural Center.
The public mission is to preserve Native traditions, heritage, and culture, and to support the health and education of Native youth and families. The center sponsors the annual Austin Powwow and Native American Heritage Festival. The site is austinpowwow.net.

Great Promise booked coverage of the 2019 Saturday so the arena, the dancers, and the people on the grounds have a film of the day as it ran.
What The Camera Held
The aerial opens on the expo halls, vendor tents, and the parking lots. Tighter holds sit on a girl in green and purple regalia, moccasins under a jingle hem, and an elder in turquoise with a feather in her hair.

The Austin Saturday
The organization and the Austin American-Statesman have described the Austin Powwow as among the largest single-day powwows in the country. In a recent year those accounts put attendance above 10,000 with about 300 dancers.
