The Austin American-Statesman dated Austin Powwow 2022 to Saturday, November 12, at the Travis County Expo Center, 7311 Decker Lane. Great Promise for American Indians hosted the day. CultureMap listed that year as the 29th Austin Powwow and American Indian Heritage Festival.
The Statesman wrote that the gathering is a one-day festival of dance competition, a Native market, and food, and that thousands of Native and non-Native people attend. Committee and board member comments in that report placed the day inside Native American Heritage Month.

Inside, dancers in regalia move on green turf under the expo roof while spectators fill the bleachers. One hold sits on a feather bustle and a turquoise vest as the arena stays soft behind it. Another sits on a child in a ribbon and jingle dress, holding an adult's hand.
From the air the courtyard between the long expo buildings fills with tents, parked cars, and the late-day crowd. Texas Highways later described Luedecke Arena as the usual home of the dancing. This cut stays with the 2022 floor and the grounds around it.
