The Portland, Texas Sports Complex, also called the Softball Complex on Buddy Ganem Drive, was built in 1977. The December 21, 2016 Hellas Design Build award covered this site with Municipal Park under one guaranteed maximum price of $16,567,446.25.

City bond materials described four softball fields that could take baseball and soccer, a youth football field that could double as a UIL soccer field, a multi-purpose turf field, concessions, a playground with splash pad, shade, and picnic grounds. Hellas specified Matrix Turf with Geo Plus infill and protective padding.

South Texas News later wrote that Hellas presented the city the Synthetic Turf Council 2018 Sports Project of the Year award for the Sports Complex and Municipal Park together. This film stays with the Sports Complex.
